Garment Care
We source all of our fabrics from many of the finest European mills. We also construct our garments with a great deal of tender loving care. Therefore, we want to help you take care of them with the same level of TLC so they will look and wear beautifully.
WOVEN COTTONS (Except Cotton Robe)
Machine Wash Cool or Dry Clean
A note about size: while testing our fabric, we learned that our cottons shrink slightly in the width with no shrinkage on the length. Therefore, we added one-half inch to the width of all cotton garments to ensure a true fit after its first laundering.
Care instructions: We recommend you treat your Sophia garments as you would a fine dress shirt. Therefore, you should care for your Sophia cotton garments in one of two ways:
1. Machine wash in cool water, line dry and iron with medium heat. First, sort our laundry into like colors: whites with whites and black with blacks (do not mix colors). Second, use the delicate wash cycle with cool water (40° Celsius or 105° Fahrenheit). DO NOT BLEACH. Third, avoid the dryer and place your garments on a hanger to line dry. Lastly, press to a beautiful crispness on medium iron settings (150° C / 300° F).
2. Professionally dry clean. Please select a service that avoids harsh chemicals, such as perchloroethylene and siloxane and high levels of heat. (Simply ask your dry cleaner the process they use.)
WOVEN COTTON and MATELASSÉ ROBE- Dry clean only
Even though all fabric of our Robe is 100% cotton, the detailed construction and trim will look best with dry cleaning.

CASHMERE ROBE- Dry clean only

Your cashmere and silk robe will last a lifetime with appropriate care. We recommend you use a professional dry cleaner to care for your silk garments. Please select a service that avoids harsh chemicals, such as perchloroethylene and siloxane and high levels of heat. (Simply ask your dry cleaner the process they use.) After cleaning, store in a garment bag, preferably in a cedar closet or a regular closet with cedar chips or lavender. (Even though mothballs work, you do not want to smell like a mothball, do you? Not when you look so gorgeous.) In between cleanings, we suggest using a cashmere clothes brush to gently brush away hair and other specs without damaging the beautiful fabric. (While brushing, please follow the nap.)
